The Dwight Slade Interview.

Henry: “Hey there, Mr. Slade. How are you doing?”
Dwight: “Been doing alright, Parker.  Glad to talk to ya headin’ into Stardom.”
Henry: “You too, as always.”

Henry: “Let’s dive right in. I’ve been able to see a lot of stars develop and find themselves over the years, and you’re one of them. From the very first day that you stepped into an SL Wrestling ring to now, how do you think you’ve evolved?”

Dwight: “If you’d told me on day one that there was gonna be a time that I’d
find myself across the ring from some of the best in the business from across the grid and the spectrum of anthro to human, I’m not sure I’d believe you.
From getting my start at FWF and UFW, to Valiant, to Rogue Hall and VWE now,
and all the places I’ve appeared along the way, it’s been a wild ride for the last five years, and I’m not looking to get thrown from the saddle anytime soon.
Back then, I was looking to make a name for myself.  In terms of evolution…
I think I’ve done that in some ways, and find myself looking to build a legacy.”

Henry: “There’s someone who has had a similar journey to you, and his name is Johnny Reynolds. You face Reynolds on the second night of “Stardom” on June 6th, at 3:00 PM SLT. While you’ve both traveled a similar path, you couldn’t be more different. What are your unfiltered thoughts about Reynolds, and the way that he carries himself inside of the ring? I don’t imagine that you’re quite fond.”

Dwight: “Reynolds is… Well, he’s an arrogant little prick. Hey, you said unfiltered… Truth is, I remember when he first popped up in Valiant back in the day.  Technically, he’s as sound as they come. He’s as good in the ring as anyone that’s laced the boots up and stepped in. But that damned attitude and his underhanded bullshit… There’s been enough times I’d liked to shut his mouth,
just never came around to us being in the same ring. Up ‘til Stardom, anyway.”

Henry: “I’ll remain impartial here, but I do agree with the statement about Reynolds being technically sound in the ring. As we wind down here, let’s talk a little bit about last year. At “Stardom” last year, you participated in the first and only Gauntlet Match for the Rampage Cup. You came up short in that one,
but had an excellent showing. Tell me about how that experience was for you.”

Dwight: “I’d like to have gone another round or two in that, but things don’t always go the way you’d like ‘em to. That was the first time I’d been in the ring with Austin Knight and Maxwell Ryan, and I was glad to get the chance to lock
up with both of ‘em. Knight is still wearing those damn sideburns to this day…
But pinning him was a good moment. And Maxwell, well…
Hell, it ain’t often I get to cross paths with someone that’s a match for
size and power. Might not have gotten by him, but it was a good test of ability.”

Henry: “I’m glad to hear that, and yeah… Those sideburns… Dwight, thank you so much for taking the time out of your day to do this interview. It’s been a privilege to watch you progress as a performer, and I have no doubt that you and Reynolds
are going to tear it up. Do you have any final comments before we close this out?”

Dwight: “Just something I’d like to say to Johnny…

We ain’t locked up before, but I watch enough tape to know a little. Come Stardom, you’re fixing to find out why I’m tougher than the rest, and you
ain’t the ‘hero’ you think you are. Our paths haven’t crossed into a match before,
but this was a booking I wasn’t gonna pass up. The Cowboy is ready.

You’re fixing to find out.”
